BETTER LIVING WITH CHRONIC PAIN

This is a blog about moving to control chronic pain.
Tips and tricks I have
learned along the way from a team of people that have taught me how to live better.

DON'T STRIVE FOR PERFECTION - JUST WHAT WORKS FOR YOU

I started my blog to share all the things I have learned about keeping my chronic pain under control. Acupuncture, massage therapy, exercise, and nutrition can all help with health, pain control, arthritic stiffness, and menopause symptoms. (They did for me. Everyone is different)
I watched my mother's doctors treat her pain with
opioid drugs for 35 years, and watch as she gained 300 pounds, become addicted, and lose all movement.

Welcome to my life with chronic pain

When my chronic pain started, I promised myself I would not take pain meds, so I had to find new ways to control my pain. Then after my hysterectomy, I had to control my hot flashes, yup won't take hormones either. So I would share what I have learned from all the professionals in my life, from therapists, doctors, personal trainers and to the wiser older women in my life that have taken the same path as me.
I want to share and learn from others with chronic pain. Let's start a new way to think about living with chronic pain.

ACUPUNCTURE THERAPY

DRY NEEDLING WITH E-STIM

Acupuncture involves the insertion of thin needles and seeds into the skin at specific "acupoints." This helps to relieve my pain by releasing endorphins, my body's natural pain-killing chemicals, and helps my muscles to release and relax. My doctor uses electrical stimulation (e-stim), an electrical current transferred through the dry needle that can help accelerate the process. They are placed directly in my muscles on low frequency, the H-wave helps stimulate smooth muscle fibers to increase blood flow, which helps specific muscles or areas of inflammation.

PHYSICAL THERAPY - YOGA - WALKING

I have had to learn to do my own physical therapy through following some great experts on youtube that really help my recovery. I use static stretching, strengthening and yoga to help my pain.

NUTRITION THROUGH REAL FOOD

Everyday you have to navigate a toxic nutritional landscape. You have to hunt and gather in a world of advertising and industrial farming.  It's hard to know what to buy and what to eat. It's different in all parts of the US but with a little research you can find places near you to get safe and nutritious food. Our are has a delivery services that brings organic food right to our door.
